String Them Open. Fold It Away.
The Foldable Instrument Stringer is one continuous stainless wire bent into a long open frame, and it does the one job a tray cannot: it holds instruments open and apart rather than nested together. Ring-handled instruments are threaded onto the two parallel runs, so each one hangs clear of the next and the joints that matter — box joints, ratchets, hinges — stay exposed instead of shut against another instrument. That is what a stringer is for, and it is why a stringed set processes differently from the same set lying in a basket. The frame is open at one end, so a whole set slides on and off quickly, and the cross stop at that end parks the instruments where they were put instead of letting them slide off the far side. The tapered flattened tip on the upper run is the end that enters the ring first. At the opposite corner a sleeve joint brings the two runs together, and it is there that the frame folds down when the stringer comes out of the cycle. The loaded set lifts out as a single bundle, which means no instrument is picked up on its own — from threading, through the cycle, to the point where the set is hung up or laid aside.
