The Reusable Laparoscopic Retrieval Basket is the instrument that stays in the theatre instead of in the storeroom. It is advanced through the access port in a closed, low-profile state, deployed inside the cavity to open over the specimen, then closed again to hold that specimen as the instrument is withdrawn. Because the basket and shaft are built in stainless steel, it goes through the normal reprocessing route between cases — wash, rinse, sterilise — and comes back for the next one. That removes the per-case consumable, the sterile packaging, and the stock rotation that come with a single-use retrieval bag, and it keeps the same instrument in the surgeon's hands rather than a different bag from a different box. It is intended for specimen retrieval in laparoscopic cholecystectomy, laparoscopic appendicectomy, gynaecological laparoscopy, stone retrieval, and specimen extraction and dispatch.
