Where the wires of a woven basket are interlaced and can shift under load, the intersections of this basket are welded into a fixed lattice: the apertures stay the same size from the first cycle to the last, the basket holds its form when it is full, and parts sit on a flat, stable floor rather than on a surface that gives. Load small components, instruments, or fittings in at the start of the cycle, wash them in the basket, let the water run out through the uniform apertures, and carry the same basket to the bench or the steriliser.
